Eating: The Essentials

General considerations

  • Eat right for your metabolic type (check the primal pattern diet typing guides on the resources section below)
  • Rotate your meals[1] (i.e. eat a different meal each day)
  • Avoid foodstuff that you are intolerant to (e.g gluten or lactose containing foods)
  • Use unrefined sea salt[2] (Sodium Chloride or table salt is to be avoided)
  • Avoid processed foodstuff like sugars, flour and packaged food
  • Prefer locally sourced food (if you can trust the quality of the source) or buy organic when possible
  • Include raw vegetables as well as fermented foods with your meals (like yogurt, kefir or sauerkraut

 

Healthy habits

  1. Drink 2 glasses of water half an hour before each meal
  2. Start by taking a few deep diaphragmatic breaths[3] (this is a good time to say a prayer if you are religious or spiritual)
  3. Eat slowly and chew your food well so it becomes almost liquid
  4. Eat until you are almost full, avoid over-eating
